arcadeblender frozen for user subscriptions

June 10th, 2008

Due to a mass amount of spammers signing onto arcadeblender to post their links, I have decided to stop/freeze the membership signup for now.

I still have way more spammers to delete from the accounts than I have time to delete them.

I will try to keep a better focus on posting more info on the blog.

I think this will be the best for this site.

Wii to launch in Korea

April 19th, 2008

I think it’s a bit late for the party but Nintendo has finally decided to launch the Wii in Korea.

Wii will be released on April 26 with these game releases: Wii Sports, Zack and Wiki, Raymon Raving Rabids, Fifa 08, and some other titles. Check out Mongdori for more info.

The commercial for the Nintendo Wii in Korea is the standard stale looking advertisements seen for other Wii launches. Check it out.

The world of Dofus goes mobile

April 19th, 2008

Fans of Dofus know that the Anime style characters and MMORPG of this game is quite interesting.

From April 15 - April 29, the world of Dofus will become more interesting as a Cosmic Ray is heading for their world.

All subscriptions during this time will receive twice the lottery tokens and two additional gifts; the Raydi Shield and an item from the Crystalline Set.

Dofus players have been offered the chance to play the beta version of DofusPocket beta. The release of the mobile game is set for June of 2008.

“We wish to offer our DOFUS players new content and additional features that will add to the original online game. We do not wish to simply make a shorter version of DOFUS for mobiles.” says Mr. Emmanuel Darras, CEO and co-founder of ANKAMA. “It seems to be the logical follow-up to our development which is centered on innovating cross-media solutions as well as our will to have a total control over our projects.”

Ironman - the Marvel Hero

Ironman for PS3

Well, until I had seen the trailer for Ironman, the movie with Robert Downey, Jr. in it, I would have been asking who could play the character of Ironman. I think Robert is a good choice for the movie and I can’t wait to see the movie as well as try my hand at the game.

With that said, Ironman is coming to your PS3, PSP, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and DS.

The game play looks pretty good, but standard affair. Fly, shoot, toss, and destroy; all in a days work for Ironman.

Check out the Ironman contest, as seen on the YouTube video posted above: Machinima. The contest runs April 7 - May 18 for some cool prizes.

Gray Matter release set for 2009

April 2nd, 2008

dtp, the Hamburg based publishers of Jane Jensen’s much awaited game release of “Gray Matter” is set to be released worldwide in 2009.

dtp has received permission from Jane Jensen to switch game developers to a company called Wizarbox. Wizarbox will take over the helms of development of the game, which dtp believes the company will offer a higher quality game for the consumer.

“I visited Wizarbox in their office near Paris and they are a very solid, experienced developer. I know they will bring a lot to Gray Matter and I’m looking forward to seeing the project completed in their hands. It’s going to be a great game”, comments Jane Jensen.

Gray Matter will be the second release of Jane Jensen, in the style of Gabriel Knight 3. Gray Matter will follow Jane Jensen’s style of interweaving gruesome incidences and supernatural events.

You can play as Dr. David Styles or as Samantha Everett trying to find the truth and secrets that awaits at Dr. David Styles’ English mansion Dread Hill House.

Sci-Fi London - Moviestorm - Games?

March 30th, 2008

What’s a Sci-Fi film school, a festival, and movie making software got to do with games?

I’m not sure myself, but Moviestorm - the company sponsoring Sci-Fi London’s film festival is offering it’s software free to anyone attending Sci-Fi London Film School and Matt Kelland, the “Creative Director” of Short Fuze will introduce the software to the audience attending the Sci-Fi London festival.

John O’ Boyle- CSMO for Moviestorm added
“This is a key sponsorship for us as we will be making several announcements to coincide with the Festival. Science fiction is hugely popular with amateur movie-makers, but it’s quite daunting to shoot an SF movie with real actors. Machinima is a great way to enable amateur movie-makers to shoot SF, because you can easily make use of costumes, environments and effects that would otherwise be way beyond most budgets. This film challenge will really unleash people’s creativity and enable both novices and more experienced film-makers to venture into all sorts of new territory.”

Moviestorm’s software is based on game technology and uses a game-style interface. With the software, the company claims that you can make a movie in 15 minutes.

Check out the Sci-Fi London festival which opens Wed, April 30 through Sun, May 4. Check out Sci-Fi London for more details.

Microsoft offering free HD-DVD emulator for Xbox 360

March 5th, 2008

That’s right folk, Microsoft is now offering the once costly emulator for game developers to test out HD-DVD via a USB connection of an external drive or networked PC.

The once costly emulator which Microsoft was selling for $2999 is now being offered for FREE!!!

Now that Toshiba has all but given up support for the HD-DVD format, I’m guessing Microsoft is offering the emulator free as it’s still a good program for testing out programs for the Xbox 360.

For those developers that have purchased the emulator, they are in luck, Microsoft will refund the purchase of the program.

God of War Going Portable

March 5th, 2008

God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP

Several sites are raving about God of War: Chains of Olympus coming to the PSP and how they are dusting off the old PSP systems to get ready to play this popular game.

The PSP version will be released March 7, 2008 and is rated M for Mature content.

The game is about a human Godslayer that must now once again heed the commands of the gods to go to the underworld to fight the most feared creatures of Greek mythology. Will he choose redemption or save the world?

What I’m hoping for is a newer version of “God of War” or any other games for the PS3 that will let me play the game, live, on my PSP as well as allowing for the PSP to download portions of the PS3 game to be played, away from the PS3 and it’s WiFi connection with the capabilities to re-sync with the PS3 when you are back within connection range to upload your stats and download newer content or play directly back from the PS3, etc…

One can dream…

DRM free content for your iPod or PSP

February 19th, 2008

The famous hacker ‘DVDJohn’ that broke the DVD copy protection scheme DeCSS is bringing out another great program for users of digital media.

The program, Double Twist Desktop, will allow for and use of digital media that have copy protection schemes like Apple’s iTunes. By using the free download from DVDJohn, you will be able to use that digital media on another system instead of on one system like the iPod.

You can read more about the program from the register or go directly to doubleTwist.
