PAX 2008 starts Aug. 29-31

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

A little late posting this as Pax 2008 is starting tomorrow but those who can make it to the Penny Arcade Expo 2008 should have some pretty good fun for the three day event.

At this time, I am not sure if I will be able to attend PAX due to other commitments but I am hoping that I can break away from my schedule to go and cover PAX.

PAX 2008 will be held from this Friday the 29th of August till Aug. 31 at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle.

Check out www.pennyarcadeexpo.com for more info. The cost is $30 for one day or $50 to attend all three days.

Aurora Feint on the iPhone

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Having just brought the new iPhone 3G model, I felt compelled to try out some free games.

While most games will cost you a few pretty pennies, this game is free and is pretty fun to play. The game is your basic match like pieces game with a twist. You gain new skills and abilities by beating the game.

I can’t really say how much the game will change over time as this is just an intro game to future game developments for the game and is offered free to boot.

I found the graphics introduction to be of a high quality you would expect from some of the top notch game makers and believe this game will get better with time.

The one fault that I seem to have with this game is that it is a large game, by that I mean the game is a large file to download, takes about 30 seconds to load and run, and every now and then, I have a memory low issue while playing the game.

The game is great enough to save the game and let you know that the “memory low” issue has occurred and advices you to power off the iPhone and turn it back on to play the game from where you left off.

Maybe the memory low issue is just something that has happened to me only, but I will have to assume that it is effecting other users as well.

I say the game is still worth a look and damn well fun to play. Give it a try.

You can download the game from the App Store on your iPhone.

Blogging on arcadeblender with iPhone 3G

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Because my previous service provider could not and would not correct a billing issue from 2 years back, I have dropped them for my new provider.

It is also a perk as I can now post to this blog from my iPhone.

I love how the iPhone allows for new software programs like this wordpress blog program to ran so smoothly.

I have installed some free games and other apps I find amusing and the only issues I have about the iPhone is the difficulty of typing with my fingers, though I’m getting better at it. The other complaint I have about the iPhone is the iPhone’s ringtone format by Apple.

Apple has made assigning mp3s as ringtones into a simple format you can assign them via iTunes. However, it will only allow mp3s brought from the iTunes store to be converted over to a ringtone for your iPhone.

The benifits of the iPhone outweigh the few negative issues that I can find so far. The iPhone is what the pocket pc/phones should have aimed at being from the start.

I had a Toshiba pocket pc I brought from Costco several years back and as much as I loved using it, I haven’t used it in years. I think I would probably be still using it if I found it to be as easy to use as the iPhone today.

Getting back on track, I hope I’ll be able to update arcadeblender more, now that I have a more portable solution, though typing on the iPhone is still a little difficult for me… It’s taken nearly 25 minutes to type this post where it would be less thena few minutes on a full size keyboard.

Till next time, sent from my iPhone.
