The new rumor is from IGN which states that they have some very reliable sources that have leaked some details about what the next version of the PSP will be like.

The PSP 2 will have a multi-touch screen like the iPhone allowing you to control movement as well as easier menu system navigation.

It seems that Sony had been doing some surveys with people to see what they would like in the next version of the PSP. One of the main interests was a touch screen so that would be a logical choice as the Nintendo DS and iPhone has proven it to be a very popular feature.

The Next Best Portable Gaming Console Possibly The GP2X Wiz System

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

What could be the best possible portable gaming console; Sony PSP, Nintendo’s DS or DSI, or could it be a relative unknown system called GP2X Wiz?

A Linux Based Portable Game Console

A Linux Based Portable Game Console

I like the build quality of the PSP and DS better than I like the look of the portable game system of the Wiz console but it looks as it is built sturdy.

Looking at the specs, I can’t tell if the new version of the GP2X supports TV out but I’m thinking that it should be able to since it’ll support maximum resolution of 640*480.

The new specs for the GP2X are:

MagicEyes Pollux System-on-a-Chip
533MHz ARM9 3D Accelerator CPU
1GB of Nand Flash Memory and 64 MB or SDRAM
Linux Based Operating System
SD Card Storage
USB 2.0 connection to PC
2000mAh Lithium Polymer Battery
AMOLED Touch Screen 2.8 inch Display
Microphone Input

Video Supports for the GP2X Wiz is: DivX, XviD, MPG4
Audo Support is MP3, Ogg, Vorbis, and WAV with Stereo support
Photo supports are: JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP file formats and Flash Player 7 support and eBook feature.

You will be able to create your own games for the hand held game console with Wiz SDK. The Wiz official games wil be released every month. The release will have 12 games included as well as game demos of future game releases.

Demo Resident Evil 5 For Xbox 360 Gold Members Only

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Resident Evil 5 is now live for you to demo, that is as long as you are a Xbox 360 Gold Member…

Matt Peckham states, ” it looks like the U.S. version may in fact sport an extra level and a few new weapons.”

I agree with Matt’s comment that the demo is not worth the cost of a membership, the price paid should reflect the cost of being a premium member, meaning they should be offering more quality stuff instead of a demo to gain members.

Entropia Universe Has A Surprise

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

The very first MMORPG that was ever created is still online and kicking and it seems they have brought a big surprise to the Entropia Universe on Planet Calypso from Jan 23 - Feb 2, 2009.

I received an email from the Entropia team talking about the Mutant Mayhem surprise. Check out the message below.

Double Skill Bonus in effect on Planet Calypso

January 23, 18:00 - February 2, 11:00 UTC

(transcript from an unedited EBN news tape)We’re set? How do I look? Okay, starting in five, four, three, two…This is Shelly Nakajima, reporting from outside Fort Zeus. As you can see behind me, a lot of mutants have gathered here. CDF have raised concerns about it, but does not consider it a serious threat. However, CDF advise colonists travelling in the wild to be extra careful.

Nobody knows what this is about. Some say they are trade meetings, while others think that the mutants are gathering an army …

… there’s some commotion over there to the left. Can you see it? Could you please zoom in on it?

…oh. Oh my! Eh, we have to cut that part. We can’t show that.

*clears throat*

Okay, let’s take this. There has been no official explanation for the mutant gatherings. Some say they are trade meetings, while others think that they might be gathering an army to strike at the human population, but whatever it is, we can expect a sharp increase in the mutant population very soon. That will be a problem that has to be addressed.

For EBN News, this is Shelly Nakajima.

Awsh… (giggle) we really can’t show that. Can you blur the background?

(transcript ends)

Every participant will receive twice the normal amount of skill experience gains during this period. The bonus will be in effect for all professions, during all activities throughout planet Calypso, Crystal Palace and Club Neverdie for this event period.

Keep up to date with all the latest EBN reports here:

Best Regards

Your Planet Calypso Team

Indiana Jones And The Staff Of Kings For Wii The PSP And The DS In Spring 2009

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

That’s right, the game that’s been promised for release as Indiana Jones 2007, became Indiana Jones 2008, is now looking to become a reality in 2009.

Lucus Arts released the trailer for the game, “Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings” on the internet and the reaction from netizens seem to be that they think it’s freaking awesome!

The game trailer looks great the quality of the graphics will be nowhere as near what is shown on the trailer if you were to play it on the Wii, PSP, or the DS. I have a feeling that a Xbox 360 or PS3 version will be coming out as well.

Watch out for Indiana Jones coming in Spring of 2009.

Resistance: Retribution And Your SixAxis Controller

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Fans of Resistance: Fall of Man will want to play Retribution which takes places a few weeks after Fall of Man.

As James Grayson, you had to kill your brother who was converted inside a Chimeran conversion center and is now on a quest to destroy every conversion center he can find.

The PSP game uses Bend Studio’s PSP engine which allows for more enemies on the screen and more details and a larger detailed world for your playing pleasure.

In a more interesting news from crunchgear, the game Resistance: Retribution will by able to use your PS3’s SixAxis controller to play the game thanks to Sony Bend, the developers who came up with the system and is called PSP Plus. Sony reps are saying that there is no plan to further use PSP Plus in other games but I think depending on how popular the PSP Plus system becomes will be the major factor in seeing more games with this feature added.

President Obama’s CrackBerry Addiction

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Our new President, Barrack Obama is a BlackBerry user and as one of the most technologically adapt president of this century to use it to win the election, it doesn’t come as a surprise when he almost had to give up his BlackBerry (also known as CrackBerry by fans addicted to it) that President Obama had a Charlton Heston moment of, “You’ll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.”

Due to strict security regulations at the White House, Obama and his staff members were surprised by the antiquated and outdated computers running on old Microsoft OS programs.

In a statement to the Washington Post, Obama’s spokeman Bill Burton responded to the issue  and said, “It is kind of like going from an Xbox to an Atari.”

The issue of security for Obama’s CrackBerry has been cleared with the use of an enhanced security software which will keep data used on his BlackBerry secure.

For Sony PS3 owners, the constant update of the PS3 firmware is no surprise but has been a welcome addition to improving our game play and use of the PS3.

And it’s been announced that a new firmware is now available. You can download ver 2.60 for the PS3 and it offers some new usability for viewing photos.

Users can now explore and view their photos with even more ease, selecting through multiple criteria choices through location, camera type, age of photos, and many more choices. Pictures are displayed in a 3D interface and can create albums and sort them on a virtual wall which can be used as a new screensaver feature for your PS3.

Better yet, Sony has included an update for the PS3 to offer DivX 3.11 support so you can watch videos created in the DivX format.

Now if they can add support for chat and some other features which Xbox Live supports.
