Sci-Fi London - Moviestorm - Games?

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

What’s a Sci-Fi film school, a festival, and movie making software got to do with games?

I’m not sure myself, but Moviestorm - the company sponsoring Sci-Fi London’s film festival is offering it’s software free to anyone attending Sci-Fi London Film School and Matt Kelland, the “Creative Director” of Short Fuze will introduce the software to the audience attending the Sci-Fi London festival.

John O’ Boyle- CSMO for Moviestorm added
“This is a key sponsorship for us as we will be making several announcements to coincide with the Festival. Science fiction is hugely popular with amateur movie-makers, but it’s quite daunting to shoot an SF movie with real actors. Machinima is a great way to enable amateur movie-makers to shoot SF, because you can easily make use of costumes, environments and effects that would otherwise be way beyond most budgets. This film challenge will really unleash people’s creativity and enable both novices and more experienced film-makers to venture into all sorts of new territory.”

Moviestorm’s software is based on game technology and uses a game-style interface. With the software, the company claims that you can make a movie in 15 minutes.

Check out the Sci-Fi London festival which opens Wed, April 30 through Sun, May 4. Check out Sci-Fi London for more details.

Slimming the PS3 Waist Line

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

T3 artist rendered slim PS3 ver.If you’ve ever flipped through the pages of T3, you’d know it’s all about the gear we all want.

Well, T3 has an interesting article and speculation of a possible new version of the PS3 coming out.

One of T3’s secret sources are mentioning a slimmer version of the PS3 possibly launching by this Autumn.

As the article mentions, speculation or not, Sony has done their slimming on previous versions of the PS1, PS2, and the PSP; with those facts, it is certainly possible to see a slimmer version of a PS3.

With the rumors of the 80Gb PS3 going away and being replaced with a 120/160Gb PS3, T3’s claims that it could possibly be the slim PS3 makes sense.

My part of the speculation will be that the first slim version will be Ceramic White, as it seems to be Sony’s favorite color, though they’ll probably release the black version as well…

As advertised Xbox 360 sale at Circuit City

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

I needed a break from work so I took a quick trip to Circuit City around 10:30AM today.

The line at the game section was still pretty long. I heard an irate lady and her daughter at the counter arguing about the advertisement.

A quick look showed they were purchasing a Xbox 360, Guitar Hero II, some games, and a wireless control unit

The problem was that Circuit City was telling the customer that the wireless unit was not free. (It wasn’t part of the bundle.)

The sales rep was trying to explain that they ran out of the bundled units that were for sale for the Black Friday special.

The customer pointed to the ad and started to argue that the ad did not mention any such thing about limited supplies or quantities available in the ad.

I snagged an available Circuit City ad on my way out and scanned through the ads. Sure enough, there is nothing mentioned in the ad about quantities or limited supplies.

Who is right; the customer or the sales rep?

How fast is your reaction time?

Here is a cool site to test your reaction time. You have darts that you must toss when you see a sheep scampering away from the herd.

What the game basically does is test your reaction time to see how fast your hand and eye coordination is.

Dead Six model at G-Star 2007 exhibit

Picture from Jeongki’s Photolog. The picture above and below are of couple of the models for the Dead Six: The Divided Battle Line at the G-Star exhibition. Jeongki has done a great job of taking these great shots at the exhibition. Thank you Jeongki.

I am not familiar with the G-Star exhibition in Korea but it looks like this is a big event for gamers in Korea.

It looks like the game is for PCs and the game is aerial combat based with 4 female characters and three male characters.

Check out the Dead Six website for more graphics samples. The site is in Korean so you might need to use a free translation website to get the gist of what the game is.

Dead Six is developed by Gpax.
