Xbox HD-DVD player on your PC

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I’ve found a cool article about using the HD-DVD kit for the Xbox and converting it to be used on your PC.

You will need a mini-ata adapter or USB kit drive. It seems the recommendation is to use the USB format as the driver for the drive will automatically be installed where as the mini-ata will need you to install some drivers which weren’t mentioned.

April 7, 2007 is the last date posted for any comments about converting the player for use on the PC.

Check out Hack-a-Day.

Nice cosplay outfit. Not sure what game the elven model is representing.

Another Korean game called “Black Shot”

I need to check out more Korean games and see if it’s going to be ported over to other countries. Some of these games look awesome.

Saitek’s new R660GT Force Feedback Wheel

Saitek R660 and R440

The picture on the left is the new RT 660GT and the picture on the right is the RT440.

Saitek’s new R660GT racing wheel and pedals is out and its got what a PC gamer wants.

The G-clamp used to brace your racing wheel to the desk is solid built and stable. The wheel interacts with the game to let you feel changes in road surfaces.

The wheel’s soft handle will let you hold a strong grip so the wheel will not slip as you’re attempting to drift and swerve in the race.

The pedals are designed to reflect actual positions in a vehicle and the brake pedal will offer more resistance than the accelerator. The pedal is customizable to each individual user playing the game.

The wheel offers a semi-automatic gear shift lever than can be mounted on the left or right, plus it has two fingertip-controlled shift pedals.

Saitek’s R660GT Force Feedback Wheel is available from www.saitek.com priced £59.99.

Spiritmasters crucial in NCsoft’s Aion: The Tower of Eternity

Friday, November 30th, 2007

For those that might not know what Aion: The Tower of Eternity is, be prepared to be drooling.

This is the latest trailer from the G-star 2007 gaming exhibition in Korea.

Another Aion trailer from G-Star.

The Korean software company, NCsoft, known for their top notch MMORPG games is bringing one of the most anticipated games to the masses real soon.

The closed beta testing in the states will begin early 2008 and will be released later in the year.

The new and mysterious Spiritmaster is a wonderful addition to the game. The Spiritmaster’s ability to summon and control elemental spirits of Earth, Wind, Fire, & Water is very powerful and necessary to win battles against your foes.

The Earth spirits are strong in defense abilities.

The Fire spirit in ranged attacks.

The Water spirit for healing.

The Wind spirits for melee attacks.

You cannot control different elemental spirits at the same time.

For those that have read all the way to the bottom, here’s a treat, dancing Aion characters.

Alienware and Intel brings Hyperblast online

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Alienware and Intel are teaming up to bring an online game called Hyperblast to the netizens.

Hyperblast is a futuristic race track well players race against AI (artificial intelligence) drones. You can avoid the drones or kill them with weapons and weapons upgrade throughout the racecourses.

The courses become harder but the upgrades in the course are based on getting Intel tech upgrades in the game.

The game is reminiscent of the old 80s line based race games. The good thing about playing this game is that you have a chance to win Hyperblast t-shirts or if you finish the final track, you’ll be eligible to enter the grand prize draw to win a fully loaded Alienware Area-51 m9750 extreme gaming notebook with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor!

The bad part is that its only open to residents of European Union member states, Norway and Switzerland. The choice for a US Hyperblast page is listed in the game site but I am not sure why the US is not part of the contest.

The game prize will be held on Feb. 29, 2008.

AMD unleashes Spider to the masses

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Remember this picture?

Sapphire - World Cyber Games 2007, originally uploaded by jonjon_01.

It was a picture of the Sapphire System that was being demoed at the World Cyber Games 2007, in Seattle.

AMD has made an announcement, back in Nov. 19, 2007, that they are releasing the Spider system.

The Spider system is the first PC platform to run all AMD systems, from processor, to graphics!

  1. AMD Phenom 9000 Series Quad-Core Processor: For phenomenal performance.
  2. ATI Radeon HD™  HD 3800 Series: For HD graphics.
  3. AMD 7-Series Chipsets: For scalability and support of HyperTransport 3.0, PCI Express 2.0, and native quad-graphics supporting up to 4 graphics cards.

I guess this is what the rep at WCG was talking about.

Maple Story Europe has added new features

Maple Story - Slime, Spore, and Pig

While Maple Story is free to play online, you can purchase additional features in the game.

A cool upgrade is the “My Boyfriend” and “My Girlfriend” feature which will have a special pointer that floats above your (online) significant other, letting everyone know who your beau is.

What about a Mushroom House Elf, a helper, that will mind your online store in MapleStory’s Free market area, even if you’re offline!

If you’ve been neglecting your pet and the pet has expired from your world, the new “Water of Life” option will bring back your pet to life for another 90 days.

A new map has been added to include an Asian world to the vast online world that is Maple Story. The new map features cherry blossom trees and misty mountains with new monsters and new quests to finish.

Maple Story players in Europe can play in 5 different languages - English, French, German, Spanish, and Dutch.
