Play Rubiks Cube On iPhone With MiCube

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Ah, the popular 3D Puzzle game from way back when… Rubiks Cube was an instant hit as soon as it came out; and thanks to the iPhone game MiCube, you can now play the popular game on your iPhone!

Like the long lines for Star Wars, iPhone, and the Porta Potty; it’s a it’s something that people needed to do, and do it right away!

I remember spending a lot of time trying to figure the puzzle out… I could only get one side of the wall completed, that is until I dropped the Rubiks Cube one day and part of the cube came dislodged. I took the cube apart and put it back together; all in it’s matching color glory!

Off course, repeated dismantling and reassembly of the cube had caused the cube parts to become really loose fitting and you could no longer play with it.

With MiCube, it’s a simple process. You get the option of the iPhone app scrambling the cube for you as well as unscrambling/resetting the cube back to it’s original state. The game also has a timer so you can see how long it took you to complete the cube or when you quit in frustration, like most of us did but even then we always go back to it.

Get MiCube while it’s still free from the iTunes store.

Looking For Stability

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Right now, I’m not sure what my current employment status is, with this recession, the company is looking at cutting costs and I might be one to get cut.

I am currently working on getting another position, which hopefully will be more stable within the company.

As such, my mind has been preoccupied with my future job prospect.

So this is it for my post today. Thanks for understanding.

Sony tells Joystiq: No PS3 Price Drop

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Consumers and business analysts have been expecting Sony to drop price on their PS3 consoles to better compete with their rivals Nintendo and Microsoft. Sony has always said to the effects of “We don’t comment on speculations” or “We’re focused on long-term profits.

However, in an announcement made to Joystiq today, they have officially made an announcement saying, “We do not have plans for a PS3 price drop, and any rumors to that effect are false and are the result of speculation.”

Sony making an announcement to several blogs the day before they are expected to make a major announcement has me wondering what Sony has in mind.

Off course, one announcement will probably be about virtual ads or “dynamic in-game” advertising in future games as mentioned in a previous post. This is due to MLB (Major League Baseball) 09 The Show being the first disc-based PS3 game to have advertisements in their games.

Video Game Makers Sees Change In Game Market

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Video game makers are seeing a less profitable future and they are looking at ways to turn a profit.

While companies are taking in more money, the cost of development and marketing has risen almost double the cost of what it might have been several years back.

At a usual price of $60 a game, the money made from the sale is not enough to cover the cost of covering development, licensing fee to console makers, marketing, as well as the merchants’ cut. They need to sell at least one million copies to make a profit but most companies sell about 150,000 copies on the average.

Right now, with so many choices for consumers to choose from, from phones, pc, game consoles, they are seeing less interest in the consumers for high priced games as consumers are going for cheap or free games…

The companies are keeping track of what is going on and options are being considered, but the one option I think we will see more in future games will be ad-supported games as well ads in the games that we play.

E3 Expo 2009

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

It seems like I’ve been on a kick posting about events and expos.

Here’s another expo that’s coming up, the E3 Expo. One of the other well known expos for game industry and entertainment folks to showcase their wares.

The E3 Expo will be held at the L.A. Convention Center from June 2-4, 2009.

E3 Expo is a trade show and as such is only meant for industry professionals but it’s great to see so many expos are still going on when other expos have had to cancel due to the economic recession.

Child Porn Abuse On PS3

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

It’s sick, sick, sick! A 24 year-old Kentucky man is thankfully going to get what he deserves for child pornography abuse by persuading a 11 year-old to pose nude and perform for him via a webcam.

Anthony Scott O’Shea met the 11 year-old girl while playing Warhawk via the PS3 online network.

And when stuff like this happens, it give all the more reason for companies like Sony and Microsoft more reason to censor and monitor their online networks. I can’t help but agree with this. If the parents won’t monitor what their kids are doing and other network users don’t help police themselves to make a safe online community for everyone to enjoy, then sick bastards like Anthony can harm kids or worse!
