Looking For Stability

April 23rd, 2009

Right now, I’m not sure what my current employment status is, with this recession, the company is looking at cutting costs and I might be one to get cut.

I am currently working on getting another position, which hopefully will be more stable within the company.

As such, my mind has been preoccupied with my future job prospect.

So this is it for my post today. Thanks for understanding.

April 21st, 2009

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has announced new standards for their upcoming Bluetooth 3.0 which could see it’s way into game consoles like the Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3.

As the PS3 and Wii both utilize Bluetooth in it’s current configuration, adding the new chipset for 3.0 for future releases might be an easy thing to do.

EA Uses Brass Knuckles To Muscle It’s Way For Publicity

April 19th, 2009

In some fun news, GamePolitics reported last week about Electronic Arts sending their Godfather 2 press kit which included…Brass Knuckles.

Godfather II

Godfather II

No comments are given by EA but they have been contacting the press departments that were sent the illegal brass knuckles and telling them, “I hope you’re enjoying our Godfather II press kit, including the novelty brass knuckles. To help you take proper care to dispose of the item, we’re sending you a pre-paid shipping package.”

Truly a bad marketing idea from some PR person at EA.

Price Cut Request for Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 by GameStop CEO

April 19th, 2009

The CEO of GameStop, Dan DeMatteo told CNBC during an interview on April 15, that Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony to cut the price of it’s game consoles, especially Sony.

Dan believes the price cut of the PS2 by Sony is a little too late, since publishers will not create any more games for the PS2, once they’ve stopped development, it’s stopped.

The CEO of GameStop might know something about it, since his company has reported earnings of $232 million for the forth-quarter, which is 22.4% up from previous forth-quarter earnings last year.

The Downturn Of The Video Game Biz Empire

April 17th, 2009

It seemed as if the only recession proof business in the world was the video game business but this years trend is showing a big downturn.

Compared to sells of 1.72 billion for last years quarter, sales were 1.43 billion comparing data with 2008 sales figures reported by the NPD Group.

Further results shows hardware sales have fallen from 18%, accessory sales fell by 15%, and software sales by 17%

Some excuses for the sales figures are due to Easter coming a month later compared to last year when it was in March. The sales for March of 2008 was $121 million so comparing results for the quarter are different.

It seems the Nintendo Wii is still the king of sales at 601,000 units sold for the month compared to 330,000 for the Xbox 360 and 218,000 for the PS3.
