Which Xbox 360 is right for you?

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

There are 5 variations of the Xbox 360 system: The “Elite” - $449.99, “Halo” - $399.99, “Pro” - $349.99, “Arcade” - $279.99, & “Core” - $199.99.

So which one should you get?

We don’t have to worry about the Core version, that’s discontinued, unless you can find one for sale.

To enjoy the full capabilities of the system, HD (High Definition) is a must! Having HDMI is top of my priority. The HD component cable is okay but nothing compares to HDMI.

Thankfully, all Xbox 360 systems made after July 2007 features HDMI ports. The Elite, Halo Edition, and Arcade models are equipped with HDMI ports. You will have to check the Pro and Core model to see if they have HDMI because only the newer Pro and Cores made after July 2007 will have them.

If your top priority is hard drive space, the Elite is the way to go with it’s 120 GB HDD.

My choice would be the Halo Edition or Pro. Its at a reasonable price and offers all the same features as the Elite minus the HDMI cable, and only 20GBs of HDD instead of the 120GB HDD in the Elite.

The Halo Edition compared to the Pro is about $50 dollars more but it offers a Play & Charge Kit in the bundle.

One last thing to consider is your older Xbox games. The Elite, Halo, and Pro are backwards compatible and it included a Wireless controller (the Arcade model also offers wireless controller in the bundle but is not backwards compatible).
